At Victory Costumes, our wardrobe spans the full arc of 20th-century military history as it played out in Malta and the wider Mediterranean theatre. Every item has been sourced with production use in mind: correct construction, correct materials, correct insignia, and correct accessories. The collection is organised into three primary areas.

The Collection - 20th Century Military Uniforms

The British military presence in Malta extended from the late 19th century through to independence in 1964, encompassing two world wars and the extraordinary period of the Siege of Malta (1940–1942). Our British collection covers all three services and all ranks.

Our German collection includes a variety of materials related to the Wehrmacht, Waffen-SS, Luftwaffe, and Kriegsmarine, focusing on different aspects of their themes in the Mediterranean region.

Malta’s own uniformed services have a rich and distinctive history. Our collection covers the Malta Police Force from the British colonial period through to independence, as well as the Air Raid Precautions (ARP) wardens and civil defence volunteers who served during the Siege. These uniforms are particularly valuable for productions set in Malta itself, and for museum and educational use.

“There’s only one way this war ends: last man standing.”

— Colonel Mackenzie (1917)
